Speaking of beans (see the last Back to Basics on that page of this blog), if you've stored them (which is a good idea!), how do you use them...especially in a grid-down situation? Here are some good ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgMc3O1CNj8

Remember to Read each new Back to Basics Newsletter.

T his month's installment of the Back to Basics Newsletter is now in the so-named page of this blog. Remember the song about beans that we all sand in our juvenile days? What? You didn't? Well, I apologize (but I'm not sure I believe you). At any rate, it turns out that beans are very good for you, very versatile, and a great item to have in your long-term storage (as well as canned beans in your short-term storage). We've even used lentils to supplement taco meat! And I regularly mix kidney beans or black beans with salsa or hot sauce for a chip dip or put them on nachos for a little very healthy protein. But enough about "magical fruit". There's also a section on Fuel Storage, along with other usual, but very timely and helpful sections. As always, Thank You Jarolyn Ballard Stout for putting these together (also see them at https://preparednesstips.blogspot.com/):
