Composting Toilet

So, what are you planning to do if there is some sort of emergency with the water supply and you can't use your toilet for a couple of days ...or more? ...and maybe your whole neighborhood is having a shared moratorium on flushings? Well, join the crowd if you've ever felt just a little stress over the thought. I remember reading "Alas Babylon" as a teenager. It's about a family learning to survive after a nuclear war and, in one point of the story, just such a scenario is described. I guess I'd never thought of that before and it's haunted me on occasion ever since. Well, here's something that might be worth looking into: https://myboxio.com/products/composting-toilet?variant=46781032563026&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=shoppingUS%20-%20USD%20-%20EN&utm_content=BOXIO%20-%20TOILET%3A%20Composting%20toilet&gad_source=1

Nutrient-Dense Canned Goods

In the past we've encouraged our lookers to buy extra of foods they and their families like to eat when they go shopping....just to have some on hand in case there's a time when it's hard to get. We're definitely not discouraging having as much as you can of staples such as wheat, cooking oil, flour, sugar, legumes and such, but it will be all that much harder to get by if that's all you have (particularly if you never practice using it and rotating it). Anyway, along with buying spaghetti-os, canned pie filling and other forms of unicorn flatulence, it's a good idea to make sure you have NUTRICIOUS foods in containers that classify them as "non-perishable". Again, it will make a big difference in tough times if you and your family have been getting somewhat used to these. Well, Rose Red Homestead does it again! Watch this excellent (and quite interesting) video where she goes into detail about nutrient-dense canned goods: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

10 Supplies You Need for Emergency Preparedness

So, we very seldom listen to the "evening news" as presented by that mainstream media. We have been disappointed by the lack of coverage, at least the depth and breadth of coverage, of things that we believe are and will be affecting us. Yes, some of the places we have found to get news have some politics or some religion, or some speculation, but when applying a little discernment you hear the same things from three or four different perspectives that are barely mentioned in "the news", if at all, you really wonder. If you consider the repeated words of warning by scriptures and by prophets, you begin to see a need to be prepared, both spiritually and temporally for the future not very far off. Yes, I have faith that better days are to come, that we are headed for a new and bright beginning. But I'm also convinced that far too many of us have our heads in the sand and are ignoring warning signs of challenges that will come first. Here is a video from a trusted ...

New Back to Basics Newsletter Posted

Hi friends! I just posted the latest Back to Basics Newsletter on that section of this site. Check it out at the link at the top of this page.  If you live in parts of Southwestern Utah and were awake at around 11:30 PM on July 28th, you probably felt a rocking motion. Although it was only 4.5 on the Richter Scale and a ways from Hurricane, it was a reminder of the presence of many fault lines in our area, particularly the Hurricane Fault. The aftershocks also remind us that there is continual pressure on these cracks that can slip at any time. In this latest installment  Jarolyn Ballard Stout  shares excellent before, during and after lists of earthquake preparedness. Also shared are timely tips on gardening and ways to preserve the harvest. I don't know about you, but I believe that the Lord allows more blessings to flow our way when we show a willingness to thankfully make use of what He has provided already. Would this apply to preserving produce from the garden...
