Nutrient-Dense Canned Goods
In the past we've encouraged our lookers to buy extra of foods they and their families like to eat when they go shopping....just to have some on hand in case there's a time when it's hard to get. We're definitely not discouraging having as much as you can of staples such as wheat, cooking oil, flour, sugar, legumes and such, but it will be all that much harder to get by if that's all you have (particularly if you never practice using it and rotating it). Anyway, along with buying spaghetti-os, canned pie filling and other forms of unicorn flatulence, it's a good idea to make sure you have NUTRICIOUS foods in containers that classify them as "non-perishable". Again, it will make a big difference in tough times if you and your family have been getting somewhat used to these. Well, Rose Red Homestead does it again! Watch this excellent (and quite interesting) video where she goes into detail about nutrient-dense canned goods: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZynU8Mx2nk&t=50s
