From this website https://www.ruralsprout.com/canning-peaches/ I got these proportions "For starters, you can preserve peaches in an extra light syrup of 3/4 cup sugar and 6 1/2 cups water. Or in a light syrup that contains 2 cups of sugar plus 6 cups of water. A medium syrup consists of 3 cups of sugar to 6 cups of water. Heavy syrup would be 4 cups of sugar for every 6 cups of water." The authors of the above video use 1 cup sugar and fill to 1 qt with hot water.
